Two arrested for stealing goods carrier containing 25 gas cylinders in Pune

According to the officials, the goods carrier which is registered under the name of Samarth Gas Agency is worth Rs 2,00,000 while the gas cylinders are worth Rs 85,000

The Pune police arrested two men in Phursungi, on Wednesday, for stealing a goods carrier containing 25 cooking gas cylinders from Samarth Bharat Gas agency.

The accused have been identified as Jaysingh alias Gorakh Vilas Sawant, 38, and Siyaram Kashi Chauhan, 26, both residents of Phursungi. However, the accused were granted bail on Thursday by a local court.

The complaint was filed by the goods carrier owner, Amol Khandave, 31, a resident of Lohegaon. According to the complainant the incident took place between 5.30 pm on Sunday and 7.30 am on Monday. The goods carrier was locked and parked in a ground outside Samarth Bharat Gas agency in Khutwad.

Hawaldar YS Pathan of Hadapsar police station who investigated the case said, “The accused used to work in the Samarth Bharat Gas agency godown. They intended to sell the cylinders without a proper receipt and also sell the goods carrier . The complaint was of 25 cylinders, however, we found 29 cylinders in their possession.”

According to the officials, the goods carrier which is registered under the name of Samarth Gas Agency is worth Rs 2,00,000, while the gas cylinders are worth Rs 85,000.

A case under Sections 379 (punishment for theft) and 34 (common intention) of Indian Penal Code was registered at Hadapsar police station against the two men.
