Two-year-old gets abducted, Kondhwa police arrest kidnapper within 3 hrs
The accused was construction site worker and kidnapped the girl when he was in an inebriated condition
A two-year-old girl was abducted from Kondhwa on Friday and the Kondhwa police in a demonstration of swift action arrested the accused within a span of three hours.
The accused has been identified as Umesh Baliram Sasve (28).
The two-year-old was picked up by the accused from Tilekarnagar on Friday evening. The police obtained the close circuit television (CCTV) footage of the area and saw the accused walking away with the girl on his shoulders.
The police formed teams and sent patrol parties to scan the area for the accused, after which he was located. The police team went to his house and found the girl to be safe, police said.
Kondhwa police station incharge Anil Patil said that the incident took place at 7.30 pm on Friday. “We deployed our teams along with citizen surveillance teams to track down the accused. The girl has been handed over to her mother. We have arrested the accused under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) ,” he said.
Patil said the accused was construction site worker and kidnapped the girl when he was in an inebriated condition. The girl’s father is a casual labourer, police said.
