13-year-old raped in Moga, accused arrested

A 13-year-old was allegedly raped by a youth in the morning yesterday when both her parents were out for work, police said. The youth identified as Krishan Kumar was arrested last evening while he was returning home.

The minor was all alone and taking the opportunity the neigbhourhood youth committed the crime, SSP Surjit Singh Grewal said.

Sarabjit Kaur, a neighbour came to see the victim's mother and found the accused.

Kaur immediately informed the minor's parents who rushed home and took the girl to the Moga civil hospital for her medical examination.

The victim's statement and the medical report which confirmed the rape established that the girl was sexually assualted, said the SSP.

The accused will be produced in the court today, the SSP informed.
