21 arrested for illegal mining; 21 trucks recovered loading with sand

The police have arrested 21 people for illegal mining in nearby villages of Sutlej River and recovered also 21 trucks which were loaded with sand on Thursday.

Surjit Singh Grewal senior superintendent of police told that the Dholewal, Bagahpurana and Badhni Kalan police had put nakas at villages Lohgarh, Badduwal, Jalalabad, Dharamkot, Baghapurana, Lopo, Baude and Kussa.

The police parties were recovered 21 trucks which were leaving the district with their loaded sand vehicles.

"The arrested persons were identified as Gulab Singh of Jhuneer in district Mansa, Sukhraj Singh of Rattia (Haryana), Nirbhai Singh of Ratol village, Makhan Singh of Maajhi village, Darshan Singh of Rampur village, Gurjit Singh of Khanpur village of district Sangrur, Darshan Singh of Sanal (Haryana), Sukhjit Singh, Jagtar Singh, Avtar Singh of Dirba in district Sangrur, Satnam Singh of ward number 19 of Mansa, Ranjit Singh of Sunam, tarlok Singh of Koolgarh (Haryana), Sanjeev Kumar, Darshan Singh both of Baghapurana, Surjit Singh, Sukhdeep Singh, Binder Singh all of Sekha Khurad (Moga), Gurdev Singh of Baghian in district Jalandhar, Resham Singh and Darshan Singh of of Jaloor," said SSP.
