4 medical students hurt in clash with outsiders

Four students of Government Medical College, Amritsar, were injured in a clash with some outsiders on Wednesday evening. The injured have been identified as Maninder Singh Laban, Keshav, Dapinder Singh and Mohit. They were admitted to hospital for treatment. The incident occurred when a cricket match was going on at the medical college grounds. Some outsiders reportedly entered the venue and insisted that they wanted to practice there.

Reports said the accused also followed the injured to the hospital and created ruckus, alleging they enjoyed political clout. However, Sukhwinder Singh, station house officer (SHO), Civil Lines, said there was no information available with the police about the accused having proximity with any politician. “The matter is being probed,” the SHO said.
