40 year old undertrial commits suicide in Faridkot jail

A resident of Karyal village of Moga district, he was reportedly booked in a murder case in November 2013 by the Moga police and was shifted to the modern jail here in September 2014.

When he was found missing late Monday evening during the counting of inmates, the jail authorities searched for him and he was found hanging in a barrack at about 11 pm, it was learnt.

The body of the deceased was handed over to the family after postmortem on Tuesday.

"One of the prisoners said that he was under stress as he had told him that his wife had left him and he was feeling upset," said Balkar Singh Bhullar, superintendent of modern jail, Faridkot.
