Around two weeks after stray dogs mauled a four-year-old child to death at Kaironwal village in the district, a five-year-old boy was injured after a canine attack at Sarhali Kalan village, 25 km from here, on Thursday.
The victim has been identified as Karandeep Singh, who belongs to a family of farm labourers.
Sources said Karandeep and his brother had accompanied their father Baldev Singh and mother Simranjit Kaur when the latter went to a field for work. As their parents got busy in work, Karandeep, who was playing around, went to a place quite far from the field. Two stray dogs attacked him and started biting him. The dogs mauled the child’s face badly and he sustained serious injuries on his head, forehead and ear.
People from a nearby farmhouse heard him crying and rushed to the spot. They rescued the child from the dogs and took him to a nearby hospital from where he was referred to the district civil hospital, said his father Baldev Singh.
