In a statement issued here on Monday, the jathedar said, "Every Sikh, no matter in which corner of the globe he or she resides, must come forward to help families who not only lost their members in this disaster but have also been rendered homeless. This will be the greatest tribute to those who are no no longer with us."

The jathedar also asked the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) and the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) to render help, in whatever form they can, to the earthquake victims.

During the Jammu & Kashmir floods last year and the floods in Uttarakhand, the SGPC and DSGMC had reached out to the people of the affected areas to provide relief and assistance.
