Akali block samiti member's husband nabbed with illicit liquor

The district police have arrested husband of a Shiromani Akali Dal member Charanjit Kaur of block samiti with two cases of illicit liquor from his house at Sangat Khurd village near here.

The suspect has been identified as Gurmail Singh, husband of Akali block samiti member.

Talwandi Sabo station house officer Sandeep Singh said they had got an input that the accused was involved in trafficking of illicit liquor and had stored it in his house. Following the tip-off, a police party raided the house and recovered two cases of countrymade liquor.

He added that the accused used to purchase countrymade liquor at comparatively cheaper price from some place in Mansa district and would sell it at a considerable margin in the area. A case under the Excise Act has been registered against him.
