Amid stalking case row, Chandigarh set to get its first woman SSP immediately

Jagdale Nilambari Vijay from the Punjab IPS cadre, who has already been chosen for the post, may join as Chandigarh SSP on Tuesday and oversee the investigation.

Amid accusation on the Chandigarh police of going soft in the case of stalking allegedly by the Haryana BJP chief’s son, Vikas Barala, sources said the UT may get its first woman SSP earlier than was planned. At present, SP Eish Singhal has charge as SSP.

It is learnt that Jagdale Nilambari Vijay from the Punjab IPS cadre, who has already been chosen for the post, may join as Chandigarh SSP on Tuesday and oversee the investigation. Jagdale is presently posted at Punjab Police Academy, Phillaur.

She may even hold a press briefing on the case on Tuesday itself, sources said.
