On the first board, he defeated Santosh Gautam with a brilliant play in the last round on Sunday.
On the second board, Amarjit Singh of Ludhiana defeated another player from Ludhiana Sushant Manuja.
Amarjit got second position and was awarded cash prize of
Rs 20,000. Santosh Gautam, who bagged the third position, was awarded cash prize of Rs 14,000.
To encourage chess players in the city, a total of 42 cash prizes were distributed among participants at the culmination of the tournament.
