Amritsar road rage case: Bus driver injured in firing, hospitalised

In an incident of road rage, a bus driver was shot at by unidentified people over a dispute of overtaking of the vehicle near the Nangli area here late Saturday afternoon.
The driver, identified as Gajwinder Singh, 36, suffered a bullet injury in his abdomen area and was admitted to a hospital in the city. The bus belonged to the family of former speaker and Akali leader Nirmal Singh Kahlon.
As per the police, a car, in which four-five youngsters, were travelling were trying to overtake the bus. When they succeeded to do that, they brought the car in front of the bus. When the driver stopped the bus, they attacked him and started thrashing the bus driver, Gajwinder Singh.
In the meantime, one of them took out a weapon (probably a pistol) and fired at the driver, who was hit in the abdomen area.
Senior superintendent of police, rural, (SSP-rural) Parampal Singh said, “Preliminary investigations reveal that the dispute arose over the overtaking issue. The driver was shot at by the unidentified persons. We have registered a case against the suspects at the local Kambog police station and police teams are looking for clues.”
