Army to conduct nuclear warfare mock drill on March 7

A nuclear, biological and chemical (NBC) warfare drill will be carried out in Jalandhar on March 7 to assess preparedness of Army and civil authorities in such an eventuality.

The mock drill will be conducted in Ansal Plaza building on National Highway-1.

Specially-trained personnel of Vajra Corps will conduct the drill, public relations officer of Defence forces, Naresh Vig, said.

"Military men will exhibit their skills to evacuate and help people in case of NBC attack or disaster. Modern techniques and equipment would be on display," he said.

A similar NBC warfare drill was conducted by the military last year in Ludhiana.

The civil authorities will manage people who would come to watch the mock drill and would be specially trained to prevent spread of panic among the people at large.
