Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal on Sunday said the party cadre and leaders are ready to be arrested in ‘false cases’ registered against the workers.

“I throw an open challenge to Punjab chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh to arrest us. We are ready,” Sukhbir said while speaking to media after meeting of the core committee of the Akali Dal. He claimed that one lakh workers of the party are ready to go to jail.

“Our fight against the undemocratic style of running government by the Congress party government will continue,” he said, referring to the alleged undemocratic tactics adopted by the ruling party to oust SAD in the civic body polls.

He added that party MPs will approach the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) and will also meet the governor against the high-handedness of the government.

Sukhbir said the party will also file a petition in the Punjab and Haryana high court with evidence and demand action against the Congress party leaders and government officials who “wrongfully registered cases” against SAD leaders and workers.
