Kaur, who was in town to address a meeting of the party’s women wing, said means of social media like Facebook and Whatsapp were brimming with objectionable content which had the potential of swaying members away from SAD’s goals. She added that this could result in a defeat for the party during the 2017- state elections.

Stating that a large number of women had exercised their franchise during the last parliamentary elections, Kaur said that women had the potential of changing the course of any election if they got united.

Kaur also condemned the outbreak of violence at village Bargadi and said that a few unscrupulous elements had tried to hurt the religious sentiments of the community by tearing the pages of the holy Guru Granth Sahib.

She said the government had already taken steps to nab the accused.
