Giving an insight about the book ,Gian Singh said that the book contains 41 research papers relating to various aspects of rural economy of Punjab.

Singh said, "Since Punjab's rural economy is mainly agriculture-based, hence most of these research papers were related to the agriculture sector."

He added that the research papers on this sector include lessons of Punjab model of agriculture, socio-economic crisis of rural Punjab, agricultural subsides, farmer suicide, environment, implementation of MGNREGS, level of living of rural artisans and problems of agricultural labourers.

Moreover, he added that the research papers on industrial sector relate to the performance and problems of iron and steel, agro-based, and micro industries. The service sector performance is not very impressive in the rural areas of Punjab.

He informed that the research papers on the service sector were related to micro finance, Panchayati Raj institutions, education, and e-governance.

"The book would be useful to planners, policy makers and administrators, teachers as well as students of agricultural economics, and other readers", he said.
