A close relative met Ram Singh after he was presented in the court. The district police had arrested the boxer after claiming to have seized 5-kg methamphetamine drug from the house of his brother-in-law, Ravicharan “Ravi Deol”, in Sangrur recently.

Indian pugilist Vijender Singh, who won the 2008 Olympics bronze in Beijing, China, is friend and fellow boxer of Ram Singh, who was arrested formally last Wednesday and presented in court here on Thursday. He was presented again in the court on April 9 and remanded in police custody for two days.

Punjab Police recently had dismissed Ram Singh as head constable, while his relatives have claimed that he is innocent and he has nothing to do with drugs. They have requested the Punjab director general of police to reinstate Ram Singh on the ground that he is not a drug addict.
