Breaching security, manenters GNDU girls hostel

In an incident that has exposed loopholes in security arrangements of girls' hostel at Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU), an unidentified man entered one of the rooms of the Hostel Number two in the wee hours on Tuesday morning causing fear among girl inmates.

In an incident that has exposed loopholes in security arrangements of girls' hostel at Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU), an unidentified man entered one of the rooms of the Hostel Number two in the wee hours on Tuesday morning causing fear among girl inmates.

The intruder was spotted around 4am.

The unidentified accused was booked under Sections 294/451/380 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) by the Cantonment police station following the complaint lodged by an inmate of the girl's hostel.

The complainant alleged that an unidentified person entered her room at around 4am on Tuesday morning. He allegedly misbehaved with her and took away her mobile.

She further said that she awoke other inmates, but the accused abused them and fled with her mobile phone.

The incharge of the Mahal police post, ASI Narinderjit Singh, who is also investigating the matter, said efforts were on to identify the accused. "The matter is being investigated to ascertain the identity of the accused, and how did he manage to enter the girls' hostel. Efforts are also being made to arrest him,"he said.
