According to information available, Pakistani smugglers fired at BSF jawans in the wee hours. They were being given cover fire from behind.
After the encounter, a search operation was launched and the BSF recovered one pistol, one magazine, six cartridges, a Pakistani mobile and SIM card.
While some BSF sources claimed that this could be a bid to sneak into India, other sources said the covering fire may have been given to Pakistani nationals to push in some major consignment. 36-kg heroin seized
On Monday night, the BSF recovered 20kg heroin, one pistol, two magazines, 12 rounds of ammunition and one Pakistani phone, in Maushehra Dhalla in Amritsar sector.
BSF jawans recovered 16kg heroin and one pistol from Kassoke area of the Ferozepur sector.
