A resident of Sarabha Nagar has written a letter to the president of India Pranab Mukherjee regarding the harassment he is allegedly facing at the hands of a former Congress councillor who lives in his neighbourhood.
Kripal Singh who is a retired bank employee and a resident of J block of Sarabha Nagar alleged that former Congress councillor Amrit Varsha Rampal is allegedly violating the laws, which is creating problems for him.
Singh has filed several complaints in the past to the MC, deputy commissioner, and even police, besides, the authorities at Chandigarh, regarding the “discomfort” he had been facing.
It is to be noted that Punjab human rights commission has ordered the commissioner of municipal corporation RK Verma to look into the matter in April but nothing has been done so far.
Infuriated over the negligence of MC, Singh wrote a letter to the president in which he has mentioned the problem in detail.
Singh in his letter, said, “The former councillor has constructed a basement and has given the illegally constructed parts of the building on rent for carrying out commercial activities in the residential area, without seeking permission of MC.”
“The commercial activities, include tution centre, dance studio, supply centre of kitchen appliances” the letter stated.
The letter to the president further states that Rampal has widened the road in front of the residence from 20 feet (original) to 40 feet by encroaching the area of a park, for using it as a parking area.
Earlier, when Kripal Singh, had charged Amrit Varsha Rampal with illegal activities, Rampal hits back at Singh saying that he had started a campaign against her, as she was not in power anymore.
