Slamming the state government over introduction of property tax, Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president Pratap Singh Bajwa on Sunday termed it an 'anti-people' move.
Addressing the media on his private visit to Sangrur late evening on Sunday, Bajwa said common man was reeling and facing a lot of difficulties due to 'despotic and undemocratic' attitude of the SAD-BJP government.
“With recent nod to property tax, it seems that state government will even levy tax on air,” Bajwa said.
Bajwa said that the Congress would soon launch a massive protest against the move across the state.
He said suspension of nine Congress legislators from Vidhan Sabha was a well planned conspiracy of state government to keep opposition away from the House.
“Fearing opposition and not ready to debate over important issues, the government didn't want Congress MLAs to be part of the session”, Bajwa said.
Speaking on 'deteriorating' law and order situation in the state, Bajwa said crime had gone up during the SAD-BJP rule. “Women are not at all safe in state, besides industrialists were shifting their businesses to other states due to security concerns”.
Former chief minister and MLA from Lehragaga, Rajinder Kaur Bhattal, former MLA from Sangrur Surinderpal Singh Sibia were also present on the occasion.
