The complainant, Vijay Kumar Chopra, the owner of Ram Parkash Chopra and Sons at Bazar Nouhrian in Jalandhar, had filed a complaint against the insurance firm which had refused to pay claim of his vehicle that met with an accident.

Chopra said he had obtained an insurance policy of Rs 3.15 lakh for his Tata Indica Vista that had valid period from January 28, 2010 to January 27, 2011. But his vehicle met with an accident in July 2010 at Zira village in Firozpur.

"The surveyor took photographs of the car after it met with accident for loss assessment. All documents were submitted to the insurance firm," he complained.

The company, however, denied him Rs 1.35 lakh claim. The insurance company denied the complainant's claims saying he had already availed a claim for the said vehicle from his previous policy after furnishing wrong declaration.
