Cross cases registered in Namdhari group clash

A day after an attempt to murder case was registered against 34 people in connection with the clash between two groups of Namdhari sect during a function held in memory of former head of the sect late Satguru Jagjit Singh, the police have registered across case against five people.

In the cross case, the suspects are Ranjit Singh, Sarabjit Singh, Balwinder Singh, Gyani Joginder Singh and Kashmir Singh and some unidentified people, who have been booked under sections 307, 148, 149 IPC and 25, 27, 54 Arms Act at Civil Lines police station on the complaint of one Jaswinder Singh.

Civil Lines SHO Sanjeev Kumar, who is investigating the case, said that earlier an attempt to murder case had also been registered against 34 people, four of whom had been identified as Baba Shinda Singh of Mahna village, Sukhdev Singh of Mehmampura, Sukhwant Singh of Ranjitpura, Harpal Singh of Chheharta on the complaint of one Ranjit Singh.

However, the police are yet to make any arrest in this regard. The SHO said that investigation was on.

The clash had taken place between the followers of Thakur Uday Singh, the head of the sect, and Thakur Dalip Singh.
