DC earmarks places for selling sand, concrete

Presiding over a meeting of the district officers concerned here, the deputy commissioner said from Friday onwards sand and concrete could be sold only at the grain markets in Gurdaspur, Dinanagar, Dhariwal, Kalanaur, Ghoman, Qadian, Fatehgarh Churian, Sri Hargobindpur and Dera Baba Nanak and at the Cattle Market in Batala.
He said the authorities concerned would initiate legal action against those traders who would violate his directions in the marketing of sand and concrete. He said earlier traders dealing in sand and concrete were found storing and selling sand and concrete in the open by the roadsides or in trolleys parked on the roads in the district that might lead to accidents and spread pollution.
