The residents, who have been opposing the installation of iron gates in streets, complained to the LIT again that the gates remained closed against the directions of LIT. They also wanted that a person should be deployed at each gate during night.

Following a complaint about closure of a few gates, an official of LIT had visited the area. The LIT has warned that it can lodge complaint with the police against those residents who were keeping these gates closed.

Complainant Gurcharan Singh appealed to the LIT to take required steps to ensure opening of all iron gates in the area.
Gurcharan Singh said, “People are facing inconvenience due to closure of gates during day time. Earlier, LIT had directed that the gates should be opened from 5am to 10pm.”

Contacted, LIT sub-divisional officer Jagdev Singh said, “A junior engineer had visited the area following which, the gates were opened. However, somebody informed me that the gates were closed on Tuesday again. I will look into the matter and take required steps.”

He said the LIT would take legal action against the violators, as they couldn’t create obstruction in streets, adding that they would ensure implementation of directions of higher authorities.

It is pertinent to mention here that some residents of Rajguru Nagar area have been opposing the gates for around six months.
