Drug addict strangulates wife to death in Punjab

A suspected drug addict allegedly strangulated his wife to death at their residence here, police said on Sunday. Accused Nirmal Singh (30) was arrested on charges of killing his wife Raj Rani (25) last night, police said. The accused fled from the spot after committing the crime, but police nabbed him from a secluded place here where he sought refuge.

The accused was a drug addict and frequently used to seek money from his wife, police said, adding there were several disputes between the couple over the matter.

The wife was also physically assaulted by him whenever she refrained from giving money, they said. A murder case had been registered against the accused, they said.
