Addressing the students, Ranjodh Singh, a leading industrialist from Ludhiana who was chief guest on the occasion, said: "The country's future is in the hands of skillful and knowledgeable youth. Students should make every effort to acquire knowledge and skills with dedication and commitment and simultaneously develop some hobby to spend time as well as live a happy life. You should recognize your true passion and pursue it by working hard."
Singh also gave the students some tips for preparing for interviews. "Develop a creative mind to add value to your profession and life," he told the students, assuring them of assistance in campus placements.
NK Pathania, dean of the varsity's College of Agriculture, who presided over the function, asked the students to live disciplined lives and bring positive changes in their lifestyle. He also released five posters on nature by Hirday Paul Singh, joint director of information & public relations) at the varsity.
Meanwhile, Sudarsan Dash, senior programme officer, United States-India Educational Foundation(USIEF), conducted an outreach programme and spoke to the university students about Fullbright fellowship opportunities and preparing a strong application for its annual competition for study, research, teaching and professional development in the United States.
Speaking on the occasion HPAU vice-chancellor KK Katoch said: "It's a good beginning and hopefully some of the varsity's students will bag some Fullbright fellowships."
