Farmers paid Rs 1,077.8 cr for wheat: Sangrur DC

Deputy commissioner Arshdeep Singh Thind said here on Saturday that farmers were paid Rs 1,077.8 crore as payment for procured wheat till Friday.

Thind said different agencies procured 13,497 metric tonnes (MT) of wheat against the total arrival of 874,391 MT in different grain markets in the district, adding, 495,113 MT was lifted in the district.

He said Pungrain procured 1,65,598 MT, followed by Markfed (1,71,561 MT), Punsup (15,279 MT), Punjab State Warehousing Corporation (99,131 MT); Punjab Agro (1,10,086 MT), FCI (1,40,318 MT). Private traders procured 34,900 tonnes of wheat.
