Fasting Sikh activist Surat Singh Khalsa was re-admitted to Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) in Ludhiana following ill-health on Saturday.
High drama was witnessed at his house at Hassanpur village in Mullanpur Dakha when police team did not find him there.
Later, police traced him at his relatives’ house, and took him to the hospital in ambulance.
Surat Singh Khalsa is on fast unto death since January 16, 2015, demanding release of the Sikh prisoners, who have completed their sentences, but are still lodged in jails.
Opinderjit Singh, senior superintendent of police (Ludhiana Rural) said, “Police have sent Khalsa to the hospital for routine checkup.”
“Police force has also been deployed at the DMCH to avoid any untoward situation as police suspect that Khalsa’s supporters may huddle there,” the SSP said.
