The Yes Bank branch at Tibri Road in Gurdaspur town caught fire following a short circuit at 4.15am on Saturday.

Five counters, five computers and air-conditioners got burnt in the incident. Bank manager Navkiran Singh said the cash, lockers and records are, however, safe. The automatic teller machine (ATM) in the rented building remained unaffected.

The manager said security guard Swaran Singh was the first to alert the owners of the building, who stay on the first floor. He rang up the fire brigade that promptly sent two fire tenders.

Police are investigating the incident.
