Followers of Seechewal celebrates eco-friendly diwali

Followers of environmentalist Balbir Singh Seechewal celebrated eco-friendly diwlai at Sultanpur Lodhi and Seechewal on Sunday. The followers, who abstained from busting crackers, illuminated the banks of holy Kali bein using diyas and planted trees at different locations.

Earlier in the day, addressing a gathering during a religious function at village Seechewal, environmentalist Balbir Singh Seechewal appealed, “It is the festival of lights. Let's not destroy its spirit by spreading noise pollution. Its a nightmare for the patients and old. Moreover there is wastage of money too; we should use the money for some charitable purposes.”

The appeals of avoiding crackers on the day of the festival were also aired through community radio channel, Avtar radio, throughout the day.

Seechewal also paid homage to the victims of 1984 riots at Delhi on this occasion.
