Flaying the state government for its anti-employee policies, members of the district unit of Punjab and UT Mulazim Sangharsh Committee, on Tuesday, staged a dharna outside the district administrative complex and raised slogans against the government.
Speakers demanded regularisation of jobs, abolition of contractual posts, revision of salaries of anganwadi and asha workers and mid-day meal cooks.
The other issues, which were raised, included re-shifting of the departments handed over to panchayati raj institutions and service benefits to be given to all the employees in a time-bound manner.
"We are also demanding that the government should reverse the traditional pension system to save interests of employees. All the present policies of the state government are anti-employee," said Harinder Singh Cheema, district convener of the committee.
The employees also burnt an effigy of the state government.
