Gujarat police serve notice on Ludhiana trader for 'sheltering' Asaram's son

The Gujarat police on Thursday served a notice on a local trader who allegedly provided shelter to Narayan Sai, a rape accused and son of self-styled godman Asaram.

The trader, RK Agnihotri, runs an electronics shop, RK Electronics, in the Salem Tabri area. The Gujarat cops reached the shop along with the local police. Since Agnihotri was not present there at that time, the cops handed over the notice to his employees. As per the notice, the trader has been directed to join the investigation.

Agnihotri, a resident of Model Town, was detained by the crime branch, Delhi, on December 3, when the Delhi police arrested Sai from Pipli (Haryana). Sai had remained hidden in a farm house at Alamgir village of Ludhiana. The Delhi police had found out that Sai had taken shelter in Agnihotri's house to evade arrest. Later, the Delhi police set the trader free.

Inspector Balwinder Singh, SHO, Salem Tabri police station, confirmed that the local police had assisted cops from Gujarat in serving the notice.

It is learnt that Asaram and Sai used to stay at Agnihotri's place during their visits to Ludhiana or nearby areas.
