The petition, filed by Akali Dal (Panj Pardhani) leader Baldev Singh Sirsa on July 22, was slated to come up for hearing before the three-member commission on Thursday. However, without citing any reasons, the petitioner was told that the case would now be heard on August 7.

Besides seeking the dismissal of Kohli, the petition also calls for recovering the entire sum of money paid by the SGPC to the auditor as salary. The petition also calls for the dismissal of SGPC chief Avtar Singh Makkar and secretary Dalmegh Singh for allegedly having flouted rules.
