The position got vacant on January 30 following the retirement of PD Juyal, 60. However, according to sources no attempts have been made to fill it. As per norms, the advertisement for the vacancy has to be rolled out much before the post goes vacant.

"The vice-chancellor will decide on filling the registrar's post. Meanwhile, for the past one week, dean of College of Fisheries, Asha Dhawan is temporarily handling this position," said Harpreet Singh from public relations office of the varsity.

Not only the registrar's, several other positions, including that of director extension, dean of post graduate studies and comptroller, have also been lying vacant for the past many months. As a result, professors are handling additional charge of these positions.

When contacted, GADVASU V-C AS Nanda said he would issue advertisements for the recruitment of these positions within a week or two. "I have just joined, but have already taken note of the vacant positions. On Tuesday, I will organise a meeting with the faculty and varsity management on this matter," he added.

Among the various responsibilities of the registrar are managing the faculty members, academics, promotions, recruitment, admissions and counselling.
