Heroin worth Rs 4.75 crore in international market seized

The Amritsar rural police on Monday seized 950 gram heroin worth Rs 4.75 crore in the international market from three Tarn Taran residents identified as Gagandeep Singh, Rupinder Singh and Deepak during checking at Janian village.

The Amritsar rural police on Monday seized 950 gram heroin worth Rs 4.75 crore in the international market from three Tarn Taran residents identified as Gagandeep Singh, Rupinder Singh and Deepak during checking at Janian village.

Amritsar Rural SSP Manmohan Singh said that the accused were apprehended in collaboration with the counter-intelligence wing of the state police. Singh said that the contraband was seized from a black pouch the accused were carrying.

Counter-intelligence IG RK Sharda had received information that the accused were travelling on a motorcycle from Tarn Taran side.

“The heroin is worth around Rs 4.75 crore in the international market. A case under Sections 21, 22 and 61 of the Narcotics, Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act has been registered against the accused at Jandiala police station. The accused would be produced in court and taken on remand. More seizures are likely,” said the SSP.
