Angrej Singh, a resident of Dial Rajputan village, has been booked along with his six aides for allegedly thrashing and molesting his wife on Tuesday.
The victim was reportedly having a dispute with her husband for long. The other accused mentioned in the first-information report are Amrik Singh of Sarhali village, Jaswinder Singh of Bahmani Wala village and four unidentified persons.
In her complaint lodged with the police, the victim stated that she was going to Bhikhiwind for some personal work on Monday when the accused attacked her.
A case has been registered under Sections 323, 324 (voluntarily causing hurt), 354 (assault, outrage modesty), 506 (criminal intimidation), 148 (rioting) and 149 (unlawful assembly) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at the Sadar police station. Subinspector Rabinder Singh said the accused are absconding.
7 BOOKED FOR STABBING ELDERLY MAN TO DEATH
Seven persons were booked on Wednesday for allegedly stabbing a 60-year-old man to death at Padde village falling under the Beas police station.
The deceased, Jagtar Singh, was allegedly in a land dispute with Balwinder Singh, who attacked him along with his aides Sunny, Rano, Deepa, Davinder Singh and Money, said police. A case has been registered.
