In Manali, hoteliers hope to pull in tourists with white Christmas

In what is likely to bring smiles on the faces of many a hoteliers in Manali, the tourist town in Kullu district here received around 45-centimetre snow here on Sunday morning. Meanwhile, Keylong in Lahaul and Spiti received 15-centimetre, while Rohtang Pass received 3-foot snow.

The change in weather, Manali-based hoteliers hope, would attract more tourists. Himachal Road Transport Corporation's regional manager for Kullu depot, Pawan Kumar Sharma, said several routes had been affected due to snowfall in Manali, Banjar and Anni. "Traffic to Rohtang Pass has been suspended completely," he said.

A local said Kullu district had received fresh snowfall before Christmas after many years.
