‘Kala Chashma’ writer-cop on a roll: Sequel out soon, a song on Punjab police ready too

It goes, ‘Sari duniya to disdi alag bai, khaki vardi nal banni lal pagg bai’ (Standing out from the rest of the world, khaki uniform topped with a red turban”! The police department in Kapurthala, where he is posted, has given him an appreciation letter, confirmed senior superintendent of police (SSP) Rajinder Singh. Shera hopes to get monetary help to record the song.

Till a couple of weeks ago, hardly anyone knew that head constable Amrik Singh Shera of the Punjab police originally wrote ‘Kala Chashma’, the Punjabi song featured in the Bollywood movie ‘Baar Baar Dekho’. Now, he is not only basking in the limelight brought in by media reports, but is ready with a song on the police force.

He has also been getting calls from music companies from India and abroad, he said. “A second part of ‘Kala Chashma’ will soon be released by the England-based company that released the original song,” he added.

He has also got printed visiting cards that identify him as an ‘international artist’.
