The 32-year-old accused is a labourer. He has been booked under sections 377 (unnatural sex) and 506 (issuing threats) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), following a complaint by his wife.
A resident of Hargobindpura area, the woman told the police that she and her 14-year-old daughter had been living with the accused for the past eight years after she divorced her first husband.
She claimed that her daughter's health had started sinking recently, and when she enquired, her daughter revealed that her stepfather had established physical relations with her and sodomised her.
The woman alleged that when she confronted her husband over the matter, he started threatening her with dire consequences and fled.
Inspector Sumit Sood, station house officer (SHO), Division Number 7 police station, said a manhunt had been launched to arrest the accused.
