Laptops provided to heads of 79 'panchayats' in Hamirpur

Chief parliamentary secretary Inder Dutt Lakhanpal on Monday exhorted officials of 'panchyati raj' institutions to devote their maximum time and energy to development of their areas.
Speaking at a function held on Monday at which computer laptops were distributed to the heads of 79 'gram panchayats' in the district, he said: "The state government plans to delegate more powers to 'gram panchayats' for ensuring speedy development. Officials have been provided laptops to enable them to have direct contact with the government and district administration."

Salisbury park residents send notice to PMC commissioner over illegal renaming of garden
Salisbury Park Residents forum (SRPF) has sent a notice to Pune municipal commissioner Vikram Kumar against the illegal renaming of Pune Municipal Corporation garden in the locality. A board was put up at the place with 'Pune Mahanagar Palika Udyan' written on it. Now, residents claim, BJP corporator, Shrinath Bhimale has illegally put up a board naming the garden after his father. Calls and text messages to commissioner Kumar went unanswered.

₹71 crore released for Baba Attar Singh medical institute: Finance minister Cheema
Finance minister Harpal Singh Cheema on Monday said that his department has released ₹ 71 crore for Sant Baba Attar Singh State Institute Of Medical Sciences in Sangrur to ensure that the work on this ambitious project is completed in a time bound manner. He said that this college with MBBS seats would emerge as a hub of medical education in the entire region.

Water scarcity: Pune welfare associations knock on Bombay HC door for solution
Eleven resident welfare associations approached the Bombay High Court on August 5 seeking solution to the ever-increasing problem of water scarcity in urban areas of Pune. They filed a PIL against the Union of India(department of water resources), Central Ground Water Board, State of Maharashtra(department of water resources), Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran, Maharashtra Water Resources Regulatory Authority, Pune Municipal Corporation, Pimpri Chinchawad Municipal Corporation, Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority and Pune Zilla Parishad.

Red alert for ghat regions today, moderate rains in Pune city
Light rainfall continued to lash the city limits as monsoon is active again, however, India Meteorological Department forecasted that catchment areas of the dams are likely to get good rainfall in the next few days. IMD has issued a red alert for ghat regions around Pune on Tuesday and moderate rainfall is likely in Pune city.
