Left leader booked for hurting religious sentiments

The Nakodar city police have booked CPM (Pasla) leader and the state president of Dihati Mazdoor Sabha, Darshan Nahar, on charges of hurting the religious sentiments of Hindu community and and promoting enmity between different groups.

The Nakodar city police have booked CPM (Pasla) leader and the state president of Dihati Mazdoor Sabha, Darshan Nahar, on charges of hurting the religious sentiments of Hindu community and and promoting enmity between different groups.

Harish Pujara, a resident of Mohalla Kapania, had complained to the police that Nahar used derogatory remarks during a panchayat meeting on Sunday. He said the CPM leader used some objectionable remarks against the Hindu religion. He claimed that Nahar tried to promote enmity between Hindus and Muslims.

The police said a case under sections 295-A and 153-A has been registered against the accused.

Meanwhile, Muslims leaders the condemned registration of a case against Nahar. Addressing a meeting at a mosque, they said Nahar was defending their cause and had been booked on false charges and under political pressure.
