Man arrested with illegal weapon, drugs in Jalandhar

The accused has been identified as Deepak Kumar. A .12 country-made weapon and 60-gm intoxicant powder were recovered from him.

Cops said Deepak had purchased the weapon to kill a relative. He has booked under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and Arms Act. He will be produced in court on Monday. Police will seek his remand to quiz him for the source of the weapon and drugs.

In another case, one Vinay Kumar of Shivaji Nagar was arrested after cops recovered 35-gm intoxicant powder from his possession at Gakhla village canal bridge.
