In a shocking incident, a clash of schoolmates led to the death of a youngster, who had come to rescue his brother from the group of students.
The deceased identified as Daljit Singh, died in a bid to save his brother Gurjant Singh. A student of Class 11, he was attacked by his fellow schoolmates. Earlier, Gurjant had beaten the rival group, who on Friday attacked him to take revenge.
The accused students who study in class 10 and 11, used sharp edged weapons to stab Daljit and Gurjant. Daljit died in the hospital, while Gurjant's condition is still critical.
Gurjant Singh (17), was returning to his house in Jhulkan village, from Government Senior Secondary School, Devigarh. His schoolmates were already waiting for him outside his village to attack him. Somehow, Gurjant managed to call his brother Daljit Singh, who rushed to the spot.
Daljit reached the spot, when five accused were attacking Gurjant. When he intervened to save his brother, the accused started attacking him weapons following which he fell unconscious.
The local residents rushed both brothers to Rajindra Medical College and Hospital, where Daljit was declared brought dead, while Gurjant who is critical is undergoing treatment.
"It's a shocking trend that students are indulging in such clashes and parents are equally responsible for it as they fail to put check on the activities of their kids", said SSP Gurpreet Singh Gill, adding that already a manhunt has been launched to nab the accused.
Shaminder Singh, SHO police station Jhulkan said that the police has identified the accused student as Gurvinder Singh, Lovejot Singh, Dharminder Singh and two unidentified persons. A case under sections 302, 148, 149 and 307 IPC has been registered.
