Man sentenced to 7 years imprisonment

Additional session judge Varinder Aggarwal on Thursday sentenced a person to seven years imprisonment for eloping with a minor girl.
The convicted person was identified as Shamsher Singh, a resident of Karnal in Haryana.
He was also fined Rs 1,500.
The father of the girl had registered a complaint with the police on September 4, 2011, regarding his 14-year-old daughter going missing; she had not come home after school.
The police rescued the girl on September 7, 2011, and had registered a case against Singh for eloping on the pretext of marriage.
