Mobile phones, sedative pills recovered from jail inmates

Officials at Ludhiana Central Jail, in a surprise check, recovered two mobile phones and sedative pills from jail inmates on late Thursday night. The jail officials got two cases registered at Division Number 7 police station in this context.

Officials at Ludhiana Central Jail, in a surprise check, recovered two mobile phones and sedative pills from jail inmates on late Thursday night.


The jail officials got two cases registered at Division Number 7 police station in this context.

Jail's assistant superintendent Gurpreet Singh said during a surprise check, the officials found two mobile phones from Amandeep Singh of Jawaddi Kalan village, Pappu of Meharban and Aman Gaba of Mohalla Kishanpura of Moga.

He said the accused had hid the mobile phones in their personal belongings in the barrack. A case under sections 52 A (1) of the Prison Act has been registered against them.

In another case, assistant superintendent Shingara Singh during checking recovered 23 sedative pills from the possession of Narinder Kumar of Sharma Colony of Gujjarpur of Amritsar. A case under sections 22, 61, 85 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered against him.
