More events to remember Banda Bahadur on his 300th martyrdom anniv planned

Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president and Punjab deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal on Friday met executive members of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) to plan further arrangements for celebrating the 300th martyrdom anniversary of Sikh warrior Baba Banda Singh Bahadur.

The functions commenced with Gurmat Samagam at Gurdas Nangal on May 20 and will continue till June-end. Nagar kirtans, arms exhibition, poetical symposiums, and seminars, besides a marathon in New Delhi, are planned.

Planning for the events at Chappar Chiri and Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, besides the installing of Banda Bahadur’s statue at Mehrauli near Qutub Minar and the main programme in Delhi, was also done.

MPs Ranjit Singh Brahmpura and Balwinder Singh Bhunder and state cabinet ministers Bikram Singh Majithia and Dr Daljit Singh Cheema were present.
