Punjab Police Service officer Mann, who was earlier SSP in the adjoining district of Fatehgarh Sahib, said he would focus on preventing the smuggling of drugs via Patiala's border with Haryana. "I will come out with a special plan to control traffic in the city during peak hours on working days," he said.
“Strengthening police stations and filling the vacancies there are also on my mind,” said the new SSP.
Mann replaces PPS officer Gurpreet Singh Gill, who has been transferred to 36 Commando Batallion in Bahadurgarh. Gill’s tenure as SSP was free of controversy.
The new SSP is known to be a specialist in big investigation and busting huge criminal networks. As SSP in Mansa, he had exposed one of the biggest networks of illegal firearms trade. In Fatehgarh, he cracked the heroin case linked to Olympic boxer Vijender Singh. He is also an expert in investigating Naxalite crimes in the state.
