Reports said Kuldeep Kaur of Dandewali village was married to Chinder Singh of Khippawali village six months ago.

Since their marriage, she was allegedly being harassed to bring more dowry, which her parents could not afford, Kuldeep claimed.

Even panchayats were held to settle the dispute several times, but to no avail, she said.

She alleged that her husband along with his family tried to strangulate her on Thursday but her married at the same village saved her.

Kaur has sustained injuries and was hospitalized. The police have recorded her statement. Investigations were on in this connection.
