NGO clerk held for embezzling Rs 2.68-lakh

Police claimed to have arrested a clerk of a non-government organization (NGO) for embezzling grant of Rs 2.68-lakh meant for welfare of disabled persons.
Senior superintendent of police (SSP) Hardial Singh Mann said on September 3 retired Colonel Karaminder Singh, who was running the NGO for welfare of disabled, complained that clerk cum cashier Lal Singh, a resident of Kheri Gauria, misappropriated the above amount.
Mann said investigations had revealed that after leaving the NGO, Lal Singh was caught by Haryana police in some case of extortion. Local police arrested Ram after procuring his possession from Jind district jail in Haryana.
"We have recovered the embezzled amount from his possession,"said Mann.
Mann added that they had also confiscated around 51-kg poppy husk, 4300 habit forming medicines and capsules and arrested 10 persons in different cases. Police also have busted a gang of chain snatchers by arresting two persons. Police have also recovered two stolen motorcycles from their possession.
